EAR & BODY PIERCING AFTERCARE

01

The only product you should be using on your fresh piercing is a saline solution (we recommend Neil Med or Stericlens). Give your hands a clean with an anti-bacterial soap and gently apply the saline to the area (front and back, 2x a day) with a cotton bud or gauze.

03

Do not twist/pick/play with your new piercing. During the healing process it can be normal for the piercing to appear red/swollen or have white/clear discharge. If you notice a build up of crust do a gentle warm compress to make the area easier to clean - don't pick at it!

02

After you've cleaned the piercing make sure the area is dry  with either a dry cotton bud or by using the cold setting on a hair dryer. This also applies after having a shower or washing your hair etc - don't sleep with wet hair!

04

Where possible try to avoid sleeping on your new piercing. This can cause irritation and can change the angle/the way the piercing sits, even if it's only been slept on once or twice. If you're unable to sleep on your back use a travel pillow to allow you to sleep on your side whilst keeping pressure off of the piercing/area.

05

Downsize your jewellery! All piercings will have extra length on the bar to allow room for swelling during the healing process. Some people will swell more than others so we recommend coming in after 4-6 weeks to get the jewellery downsized to fit the area more comfortably. This will also help with the last bit of healing.

If you're unsure, have any questions or issues please contact the studio so we can help! - Aftercare can be bought with us for £5 (depending on stock availability).

ORAL PIERCING AFTERCARE

01

The only products you should be using on your fresh piercing is a saline solution for the external area and an alcohol-free mouth wash for the area inside of the mouth (for tongue piercings jump straight to step 2). We recommend Neil Med or Stericlens for the saline solution, the mouthwash can be any brand but must be alcohol free. Before cleaning, wash your hands with an anti-bacterial soap and then gently apply the saline to the external area (2x a day) with a cotton bud or gauze.

02

For the part of the piercing that’s inside of the mouth use an alcohol-free mouthwash 3x a day. If you smoke or vape - mouthwash should be used afterwards every time. Alcohol and smoking should be avoided for the first 24 hours and extra care taken when brushing your teeth and eating.

03

Do not twist/pick/play with your new piercing. During the healing process it can be normal for the piercing to appear red/swollen or have white/clear discharge. If you notice a build up of crust do a gentle warm compress to make the area easier to clean - don't pick at it!

04

Downsize your jewellery! All piercings will have extra length on the bar to allow room for swelling during the healing process. Some people will swell more than others so we recommend coming in after 2-4 weeks to get the jewellery downsized to fit the area more comfortably. This will also help with the last bit of healing.

05

You will be able to eat as normal however you should avoid spicy foods and heavy dairy products as these can cause irritation. For example, if you've just had your tongue pierced and want something to soothe the area, have an ice pop or slush puppy instead of ice cream. Try using a straw for drinks to help avoid catching the piercing!
